Darius Visser of Samoa has created history on Tuesday by setting a new record for the most runs in an over of T20 cricket in the Men’s T20 World Cup Sub-Regional East Asia Pacific Qualifiers match. Playing at Apia’s Garden Oval No. 2, Visser hit six sixes off Vanuatu’s Nalin Nipiko, scoring 39 runs with the help of three no-balls in the 15th over.
The previous highest score in an over was 36. In the first edition of the T20 World Cup 2007, Yuvraj Singh scored 36 runs in an England’s Stuart Broad over.
Kieron Pollard in 2021, Nicholas Pooran in 2024, Dipendra Singh Airee, Rohit Sharma and Rinku Singh have also scored 36 runs in an over.
